Besides playing Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny, I now can add Tooth Fairy to the list of jobs I perform as a father. Last night Dylan lost one of his teeth while showing me how wiggly it was. He basically just pulled it out. He got all excited about how he was going to get coins from his tooth (I was thankful he did not say bills because I had no cash and did not want to hit the ATM).

After he was asleep I went into his room for the stealth mission. Found the tooth under his pillow and removed it while sliding a bunch of coins in it’s place. He did not wake up – mission accomplished.

Although we sometimes want our kids to stay young forever, this is certainly a sign that my son is growing up. I am just grateful for the opportunity to take on this new role.
