One of the projects she is spearheading made the local news (link to video below). She is working with Harbor House, a domestic violence organization, to setup a shelter for pets there. I was surprised to learn of the relationship between animal and spouse abuse. Katie’s project will allow women who are victims of domestic abuse to bring their pets with them to Harbor House.

There are statistics that show some women who are abused at home will not leave if they have a pet. Fearing for the safety of their pet, they stay at home only to endure more abuse. Knowing they can bring their pet along, women are more apt to leave the abusive situation and get help, possibly saving their life and that of their pet.

We are all very proud to hear about the work you are doing with this Katie!

This afternoon my friend at work was looking up websites as they appeared years ago. It’s the next best thing to a time machine. Using the Way Back Machine, you are able to see websites as they appeared at a specific time in the past.

I entered www.slazyk.com into the search window and came across this photo from the main page. Now it’s in Flickr, to enjoy for years to come. Here’s another one. Katie

Katie celebrated her first communion this weekend. The service was very nice and she looked fantastic in her dress.

It was a beautiful sunny day out on the field. This is Katies 2nd season in soccer and she loves it!!! We are so so so so proud of her!!! Today Katie scored her 1st ever goal!!! It was a powerful shot over the goalies head. She turned around so fast after she scored and ran and jumped into her dads arms. I was on the sidelines screaming with joy and cheering her on. It was awesome!!! The “Fireballs” won their first game 2-0 thanks in part to the awesome coaching ability of Dan!!! Look for more to come!!!!GO FIREBALLS
