I received this wonderful letter from my aunt who allowed me to post it. It contains some great information about my grandmother who passed away last week.

Dear Friends,

Thanks so much for your support in my Mother’s passing away on Sunday. My mom was 95, lived in Sun City, AZ for the last 20 years or so. We are going to have a memorial service in Chicago for her in the “spring” when it’s a bit warmer. She has an older living sister 98, and a younger sister 92. The 92 year old sister is sharp as a tack. My mom lived a great life, had a Chicago public school sixth grade education, four children, and showed me by example, about hard work, faith and living life fully. She was a first generation American, with her parents coming from Poland/Austria/Hungary. After my Dad and sister passed away, she created a new life in Arizona, and it really wasn’t until the last five years or so that she became ill with dementia, and old age fading away. She survived breast cancer and always was a “fighter” for life. During the past 12 weeks, my brother, sister and I had been rotating visiting her in her assisted living home in Sun City. On the morning of the day she died, she told her nurse that she saw angels when she woke up!

She was a very devoted Catholic, lived most of her life within walking distance of church. She never learned to drive, but that never stopped her from doing what she wanted or needed to do. If you ever eat a Mars candy bar, know that she worked for a long time as a factory worker making those wavy marks, by hand, on the top of the candy bars. They called the job the wavy fingers job. Of course, Mars has automated that function nowJ, but if you ever visit the Mars candy manufacturing company in Chicago, you will see the “fingers” machine! She has left “lots” of grandchildren and great grandchildren! My older brother in Los Angeles, and my older Sister in Chicago, as well as my family truly appreciate your support and prayers. We have honored my Mom’s legacy in one interesting way. My oldest daughter Julia Ann, named her eldest daughter, Alexandria Marie. My youngest daughter is Katherine Marie, and she named her newest baby Guilianna Marie 8 weeks ago. So my Mom’s legacy lives on. Thanks for your warmest feelings of support, love and prayers.
